These are some of the things we're proud to have accomplished in Allendale County, SC with the support of individual and organizational contributions.
Farmers Market Expansion
We've collaborated with the Allendale Farmers Market to provide freezers, produce misters, and communal storage capacity for all of Allendale's farmers, keeping their products fresh and reducing their total waste and inventory costs.
Additionally, we created a climate-controlled Mobile Farmers Market to reach those in Allendale County who could not travel to the Farmers Market or grocery store.
This investment into market development is both aiding farmers in reaching more customers and increasing food security in the region for those who need it most.
We've formed a partnership with the Carolina Panthers to increase agribusiness revenue and provide economic opportunity for businesses in Allendale County.
Through funding support from the Panthers, we've facilitated multiple partnerships between small businesses and local farmers.
We provided freezers and infrastructure to grocery stores to host locally grown produce in a buyer/supplier relationship with farmers in the area - increasing income for both parties.
Food and Supply Drives
We worked with Allendale's food pantry and the Golden Harvest Food Bank to provide a nutritious source of food for more than 2,500 households below the poverty line.
We worked with the University of South Carolina to find volunteers to help distribute this food during Thanksgiving 2017 and at other times throughout the following year.
Additionally, we worked with a subcommittee of the United States Congress and the South Carolina Senate to provide more than 250 backpacks with school supplies to students living below the poverty line at Allendale Elementary.
